That's pretty shallow, OP. You're probably aware of that though.

As with all things fic though, does it matter? Noone's going to know, unless you post is as a secret or something.... Oh wait.

if jesus isn't pretty enough for you, then idk what to tell you op

(i'm not even gonna talk about how stupid it is to refuse to watch something with michael emerson in it because you found him unattractive)

+1

Also, oh no! Someone who is admittedly really shallow doesn't like something I think is good! I'm outraged and angry!

Right? Wanna talk about weird standards/missing out. Jesus is incredibly pretty, and if Ben Linus was pretty in addition to being amazing, he'd have taken over the world by now.

It's a very good show. And there are more conventionally attractive people in it, if that's your major stumbling block.

Hell yes. Can we mention Joss Carter and Sam Shaw, please?

Who do you find attractive if you don't find Jim Caviezel handsome?

Lol, MTE. Jim Caviezel is sexy as fuck. (And while not 'pretty' Emerson is damn adorable. Also an incredible actor. Reese and Finch make a great team and have a beautiful relationship. I think you're missing out, OP.)

(Anonymous) 2014-06-27 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
Indeed. Look at him. Just...look at him.

Completely off topic, but I had only partially scrolled down enough to see the top of this secret, and instantly recognised them just by their hairlines. Which ... isn't a thing that normally happens.

Slightly more on topic, but while John is so-so, I adore watching Harold. Not necessarily because he's attractive, as such, but because he's snazzily dressed and has the best expressions ever. He spends so much time looking horrified or grimly determined or bemused or bravely terrified or coldly disdainful or snooty or ... He just has the best expressions, and he does them with his whole body, too. Which, given his limited mobility, is all the more fascinating. He's incredibly expressive for a man so obsessed with privacy. Then again, given that he's got all his actual information mostly locked down, I suppose he can afford to be. But he's just ... eye-catching? In motion. I love watching him.

The suits don't hurt either, though. Always did love a man in a waistcoat.

The Finch-walk is iconic. In fact in the rare flashbacks from prior to his injury it's a little odd seeing him with a normal gait. And I definitely agree with how Emerson makes Finch's reactions work not just through facial expressions but through the way his entire body moves.

I've had a thing for Michael Emerson since Lost, but Caviezel's flat fucking voice is so excruciating for me that I could never get into this show, even as shippy as it was early on. I don't think he's bad looking, he just has this absurd anti-charisma unless he's doing an accent or something. When I don't forget the show is on at all, I just glance up when Finch is around and don't pay much attention otherwise. I still wish Josh Holloway hadn't passed on it. He could have made it halfway entertaining, and the scene where all the women in the beauty shop ooh and ahh over Reese wouldn't have been quite as unintentionally hilarious, lol.

I'm the same about his voice.

I've just started watching the show this last week, and I'm baffled as to why he talks as though his jaw's been wired shut and he's just woken up from anaesthesia. I'm able to get past it, but he really should open his mouth even just a little bit more.

I'm like the opposite of you. The reason I'm not in the fandom is because the show started to bore me and the limitations of the canon translated into fanfic didn't interest me, but if this was a buddy cop show or a sitcom (lol) or even just a different kind of sci-fi/tech thriller I would read all the hot hot hot fic of them I could find. John is like crazy dangerous sophisticated silver fox handsome (that soft-spoken voice alone *swoon*), and Harold is an adorable tortured romantic soul - but most of all, their dynamic together is perf. That's what makes it sexy for me.

In conclusion: plz go back to slashing the two hottest guys in your fandom of hot people of choice and leave POI alone. You might be interested in Teen Wolf, for example...

I never know what to say to secrets like this. To each their own? I find Reese very hot, I mean you could probably cut yourself on his cheekbones, and ME is just...god, those suits, and his Finchiness is expurgated. <3

The premise of the show is awesome, yis.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-27 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, at least your honest about it.

Though, I respectfully disagree with you about Jim Caviezel. :)

(Anonymous) 2014-06-27 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
I found them unattractive until I started watching the show, but within a few episodes, I liked the characters enough that it kind of flipped a switch, and they're both attractive to me now.

(And then <spoilers redacted> and I stopped watching the show again, and all my fondness for the characters has turned to bitterness and despair. But it was a fun ride up until then.)

*sigh* I understand, OP, honest I do. But attitudes like this are a big reason why Hollywood movies prize pretty faces (or plot, or writing) over acting skills, which leads to terrible movies. It makes me sad, that's all.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-27 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I have the hots for Jim. fyi lol

[personal profile] ayumidah 2014-06-27 04:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Eh. I'm the reverse of this, I never watch something because of a character/actor's looks. Like, a million people could tell me someone's hot and I'd be like "Yeah, they're ok" but they do something to click with me emotionally and then it doesn't matter what anyone else says about their looks, I find myself really attracted to them/their characters. And Finch and Reese are amazing together, so there's that.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-27 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought I felt the same way after watching the pilot, but when I think about it I have loved guys in shows who are actually way worse looking than these two.
imo It's something about the characterisation that is just less appealing to women. I don't know what's missing exactly but it's like it's written in a way to make guys admire the characters but not empathise with them, and you just don't care about them that much.

Most films and shows that woman love involve characters who have admirable traits but who also have a complex vulnerability. There is a reason why women love Loki way more than Thor and it's not because Chris Hemsworth is fugly.
