Wasn't one of the wands made from holly? Someone's wand was, I think. That might make Holly a strange name in the wizarding world.

JKR seemed to really like flower/plant-related names, in general. Lily and Petunia were obviously a theme, but there was also Pansy Parkinson, Lavender Brown, Poppy Pomfrey, and Padma Patil (Padma means lotus in Sanskrit).

I also just realized she must like P names too. And PP initials.

I think she likes alliterative names in general. All four founders, three heads of house (sans Sprout), Luna, Pansy, Goyle, Peter, even Dudley.
