This, so much. And I can see how published writing has declined in quality in the past ten years. I'm reading a novel from the 90s, and there's description! I always know who's speaking! The paragraphs are more than two to five lines long! There's a sense of place for each scene!

But what editors want, as I'm seeing, is a bare-bones story with no description and really short paragraphs.

Bah, I say.
