International love thread

(Anonymous) 2014-06-27 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
Of all the subjects on F!S, nationality seems to be a guaranteed ticket to wank.

So instead of wank, post your favourite thing about another nation. Keep it positive and spread the love, F!S. :)

USA

You guys are amazing! I love the American attitude to life.

Italy - It's really hard to get a bad meal in Italy. You actually have to search out for it. Even the stuff they throw together, here's a wedge of cheese, a stick of salami, a loaf of bread and some olive oil, is a delicious, delicious meal.

The Netherlands

(Anonymous) 2014-06-27 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
Well, Amsterdam mostly, but I really liked the sense of honesty, and that really is a compliment. It just strikes me as a very "come as you are" nation, and I like that.

Everyone I met in Switzerland was incredibly friendly. Wonderful people.

Belgium

(Anonymous) 2014-06-27 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
(Does that one ever get any love?)

I love the chocolate. I know it's cliche, but I do. There's actually pretty amazing history. And Bruges.

I love Belgium, it's one of the most beautiful places on earth. A while back I stopped there on my way to The Netherlands and liked it so much that I just stayed there instead. Everyone I met there were also incredibly friendly towards tourists. Hell, they were nicer to me than most people in my own state (which, admittedly, is New Jersey and we...don't generally have a reputation for being the nicest folks around)

lol I'm also from New Jersey and whenever I travel somewhere else it weirds me out when people in the place I'm visiting are really nice. it makes me a little suspicious

I'm a Jersey Girl at heart, and... well, it's certainly interesting. I can get a bit New Jersey with my humor and it freaks people out. :P

Gosh, I find it incredibly charming you ended up in my backyard sort of by accident - glad you liked it.

(Well, it's going to get a lot of love or hate depending on the outcome of Tuesday's match.)

Japan- I straight-up loved the food. Even their convenience stores have delicious meals. And, at least in the cities, I found it amazingly easy to get everywhere I tried to go to via the trains and subways.

Australia- Everyone I met was super friendly. And the scenery in both the Blue Mountains and near Cairns was utterly gorgeous. They have the most amazing animals just, like, around. Cockatoos, lorikeets, and ibises just flocking around cities! Plus, I got to see a platypus!

Iceland

You guys have got to be the most helpful people I've ever met. I was over there for two months for a class, wandering around like a stupid foreigner, but nobody ever hesitated to point me in the right direction (literally or figuratively). It was just a really nice experience.

Japan: You are clean and safe! I love how many times I've forgotten my purse or wallet somewhere, even in a busy nightclub, and someone has turned it in with all the money inside. And I love how there is so little religion wank, I love how fun the pop culture is, and how people, while they might not be the warmest, are almost always very polite and helpful.

America: I don't know how to generalize because it's so big, but I love how friendly and approachable people are. I love how you can make eye contact and smile at a stranger. I love how easy it is to strike up a conversation. And the nature is so freaking beautiful in the States. A lot of it truly feels untouched, and is just breathtaking.

France!

France, y'all helped us out during the Revolution! Granted, I'm pretty sure y'all did it just to mess with the British, but there are worse justifications. Thanks, guys! :D

I have never been to Lithuania but

Their language is the most beautiful sounding one I've ever encountered. It sounds like satin feels. I have two books of Lithuanian poetry and even though I have zero idea what any of the poems mean I sometimes like to read them out loud just to hear the words.

New Zealand had some of the nicest, most laid back people I've ever met. I loved the time I spent there. :)

Britain

Your chocolate is so much better than ours (United States).

England

(Anonymous) 2014-06-27 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
As an American, I love how well-spoken and just generally intelligent/thoughtful all the English people I've met are. Your vocabulary as well as the subjects you discuss and think about are great and I find it very stimulating to speak with you in general. I also tend to really enjoy the English sense of humor, and thank you from the bottom of my heart for producing some of the best comedic shows (and stand-up comics) I've ever seen.
