You've win this thread. I disagree so much with OP, because trying to make people reading anything for a living has taught me that just making people read anything is a triumph by itself. If people want to read fanfic, oh my god please do it. That's a huge step, and people should enjoy it instead of suffering judgemental opinions from people like OP.

Yeah, exactly. My dad and step-mother are teachers, and they wish they could get their pupils to read more than the bit they do in school.

I work for a bookseller and subscriptions agency, and the number of colleagues who say "I don't read." is scaringly huge.
