No idea what this is, most weeaboos have a "but I'm not as bad as those weeaboos" thing going on to valiate themselves because we're pretty low on the geek hierarchy. It gets tiring, honestly.

Oh cmon, we all know life is too short to pretend we don't want to go to japan and dress lolita-esque as much as we want. I remember my friends at university made fun of me for this and then I decided to use it as joke on me 'yeah I see yaoi, I like seeing guys with guys, wanna open my laptop and read my fics? no? cool' and now they don't do it anymore since they realize I'm the first to laugh at myself. I even made them start saying things like 'stop, my kokoro hurts', ffs, it's time to stop believing we're better than the rest, just take it easy.

This comic was bizarre and cringeworthy and not in a way where I'd sympathize with the main character. I don't know how to articulate why properly, something along the lines of I know plenty of girls that used to be "forced into" clothing for whatever, that would come to school and change into something normal. I get that there's the manipulation/abuse factor but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

(Anonymous) 2014-06-28 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I think this is what feels off to me too. The point of the comic is that the main character has been forced into clothes that she's embarrassed by and doesn't want to wear to the point of being traumatized... but she still wears them and there's so much work by the author into all the designs (new dress almost every page, new dresses even when she's at her father's house) that there's this dissonance where I get the feeling the author likes that style of clothing and wants to show the designs off (even under weak pretenses) while the comic simultaneously tries to portray that style of clothing as evil. It's weirding me out.

What comic is this? What's the context?

wow, that was depressing.

This just gets weirder and weirder. I don't read it as a dig at weeabos in general, but a story about an abusive parent who happened to be a weeabo.

Well, that was... something.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-28 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
Wasn't the story a joke or troll thing?

(Anonymous) 2014-06-28 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
that is fucked up and kinda dumb and not the way that would end. Most doctors would be like lady why are you dressing your grown child up like a doll and be trying to medicate the MOTHER.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-28 12:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Not actually true. They might be questioning why she's dressing her child [provided she's literally dressing her not just bringing clothes in] but they'd focus more on other things like you know. "Why is your daughter so against going home that she keeps getting sick at the idea of it?" [This is all providing that the doctors actually care enough to be willing to question which, sadly, isn't the case as often as it should be].

Also, they wouldn't be trying to medicate the mother, if for no other reason than they aren't legally allowed to force anything on her. Plus, chances are, psychiatric medication is probably not their specialty so you don't really want them doing that to begin with.

what is this comic???

(Anonymous) 2014-06-28 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
The art is giving me flashbacks to Megatokyo.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-28 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
I knew it was reminding me of something.

I found it horrifying not for the ha ha weaboo part, but because I can buy the controlling, abusive, invasive narcissistic mother part. That ending was dark.
