I have no interest in watching the Captain America movies, but this pairings seems right up my alley from the fans I've seen here.

I think I'm gonna read the fic anyway, haha.

Skip the first one (boring imo). Watch the second just for background (or maybe any scenes between Steve and Bucky).

(Anonymous) 2014-06-27 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
But skipping the first movie means skipping Bucky and Steve's original relationship dynamic and Bucky's original personality, both of which are kind of important when it comes to their characters.

Then watch all the Bucky/Steve scenes from the first one. And then watch like...the 10 minutes after Bucky dies. That is all you need.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-28 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
Haha, I'll keep this in mind. At worst, if I'm not enjoying the rest of it I can just play games on my phone while it's playing. All good!

When I did a rewatch of the first one, I watched the first 10 minutes. Went, UGGGGHHHHHHH. Skipped to like 40 minutes in. Went UGGGHHHHH again. Skipped to end.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-28 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
But then anon would also miss all the adorable pre-serum Steve scenes that don't involve Bucky :(

Blech. I am sorry, but it all just bored me.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-28 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
Not enough explosions for you, I take it?
kaijinscendre: (Default)

[personal profile] kaijinscendre 2014-06-28 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
Nah, it was just boring. Like everything about it was. The villain. The conflict. There was too much of pre-serum Steve and not enough Captain America Steve. I understand why they did it and I am glad other people enjoyed it.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-28 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
It's a superhero origin movie; they all have some level of boring in the beginning, and I'm not sure why so many people think this one is more boring than the others (I kind of think Spiderman is just awful).

[personal profile] kaijinscendre 2014-06-28 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
I was not bored by Iron Man or Thor or Batman Begins. Maybe Spiderman. That was a long time ago.

I am not sure why it was more boring to me. I'll think on it.

I say watch the first one. Just because one person found it dull doesn't mean you will. I enjoyed getting to know the 'backstory' of Captain America.
nightscale: Starbolt (Marvel: Bucky)

[personal profile] nightscale 2014-06-28 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
Just to add my two cents in, I'd recommend watching the first one, it's important for establishing Steve's character plus you get to see Steve and Bucky's relationship before everything in TWS.

(That and I to think it's a good solid film).

(Anonymous) 2014-06-28 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks, I think I will. Even if I don't end up enjoying it, there's no harm in giving it a try. Haha, who knew I'd end up being convinced by F!S to watch films I never thought I'd go for?

Don't know if I'll ever end up watching those Iron Man movies, though...
nightscale: Starbolt (Marvel: Bucky)

I hope you enjoy it. :)

*g* Give the first Iron Man movie a try, I'd say, if only for the gorgeous music, the machine porn and the banged up RDJ.

Hm, they might surprise you? I was indifferent about the comics, but they're just goo action flicks if nothing else.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-27 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
They might, you're right. The idea of Captain America as a superhero never really appealed to me? It just seemed overly "patriotic propaganda!!" which isn't my kind of thing.

But then I watched the Avengers and found that I actually really liked his character, so. I'll probably see them sooner or later, especially if this ship is as cool as it seems.

[personal profile] kallanda_lee 2014-06-27 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I always considered him as this bland hero, but Evans really sells him to me.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-28 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I never really gave Captain America the time of day because I assumed he'd be some ultra jingoistic, conservative, stereotypical douche due to his moniker. But watching his movies and finding out that he's actually extremely liberal, accepting of others, a bit of a dork, and just an all around sweetheart who only wants to help others really surprised me. Now he's probably my favorite superhero.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-28 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
When a friend told me they'd seen the first one, I jokingly asked if the main villain was named Comrade Communism.

They went, "Yeah, basically."

(Anonymous) 2014-06-28 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
The villain's actually a Nazi named Red Skull, but yeah basically.
cassandraoftroy: Peggy Carter from the Captain America movie (peggy)

[personal profile] cassandraoftroy 2014-06-28 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I pretty much fell in love with Captain America the moment I found out (from my friend, who's into comics) that he wasn't a jingoistic douchebag like the name implied to me. Then I saw the movie, and fell in love with him all over again, because he's just that wonderful. <3

(Anonymous) 2014-06-28 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
I'd recommend actually watching the first movie despite what others say, if only to get an idea of Steve (pre-serum), Bucky (pre-brainwash), and their relationship. It's really all quite crucial if you want to get into Stucky.
