Today on Facebook some guy (who is an idiot) posted a thing about how he saw a guy in a car with three girls, and usually he would think the guy should be proud (because obviously he must be sleeping with all of them, if he's in the same car with them?) but then he noticed the guy was in the back seat and one of the women was driving. Facebook guy asked something like "so who is a bitch now" referring to the guy?

Facebook Guy openly laughed at them, and claims Car Guy gave him a dirty look (and Facebook Guy wishes Car Guy had actually tried to fight him, because it would have made his day more interesting. Facebook Guy is a major badass).

Anyway, is it supposed to be wrong for a girl to drive a car with a guy as a passenger? What if it's her car? I've never heard anything about any "rule" like this.

There is no such rule in Reasonable Land, no.

I like this way of wording it and I may have to start using that now.

When my husband and I go somewhere and we take my car, I drive. When we take his car, he drives. I'm a licensed driver with a spotless record. Why shouldn't I drive my car?

Who notices a car has a guy and three girls in it, takes the time to think the guy in the car should be proud, and only THEN notices the guy was sitting in the BACK SEAT? The back seat, of course, being very hard to confuse with the driver's seat?

There isn't one. It *used* to be a thing where the guy drove the girl [basically a manners thing, if I understand it right, in a similar sense of opening a door for someone you're in a group with]. But even then, you'd start out in the guy's car so...yeah.

tl;dr: Nope, not anymore. Facebook!Guy is just being an ass.

This might be an imaginary rule for guys who are so insecure that their masculinity is threatened by women drivers, but for sane people who aren't misogynists, no. My husband and I take turns driving, especially on long trips because that's just the sensible thing to do.

I hated the way my ex-husband drove, because he liked to tailgate, and rush traffic signals, so I often would take the keys and drive. Often with two or three or four guys in the vehicle.

By his theory, Facebook Guy should've been impressed by my sexual prowess.

the only time i've ever heard someone bitch about women driving cars, it was my grandfather, who feels uncomfortable with my grandma having to drive now because his health problems mean he can't legally get behind the wheel.

Facebook guy is an idiot. There's no reason to validate the ravings of an idiot unless he really does fight car guys (which I seriously doubt; only a complete pussy, especially one so insecure in his masculinity, would strut his stuff at a hypothetical situation/missed opportunity).

Clearly, he was just so tired from banging all three of them at the same time to drive, so he graciously let one of them do it.

My grandparent's generation definitely, my parents because mom can't have a license (long medical story), my partner almost exclusively drives because I'm a bit of a nervy driver.

He is simply one of those guys who treat cars as penis extensions.
