So for about a week my best friend has been in and out of the hospital and went to the E.R. twice. Once a couple of days ago because she kept having seizures. And another time yesterday because she was already in the hospital when they called "code blue" on her. She's now resting and recovering, although her eyesight is pretty bad and her speech is slurred right now.

This entire thing has really done a number on me. I've been close to this girl for almost 10 years. She's like a sister to me. I don't know what I'd do without her. I tried to keep being optimistic and focused on making a fandom present for her of all our writings we did together to cheer her up, but yesterday was just a reminder of how close things got to losing her.

So yeah if anybody has links to slice of life friendship stuff please link it. I'm kind of stressing out over this, sorry.

Nothing is coming to mind but I still want to offer sympathy. I hope she feels better soon and you can relax.

Thanks you. I didn't get much sleep last night because I was so worried. I just want to see her fully recover from this.

I do not have any stuff that comes to mind, either. Is she stable now, at least? Do they know what's causing it?

Her mom said it's viral meningitis. She has a weak immunity so I guess that's why it's harder for her to fight it. I was informed she's now on medication for it, so I'm relieved for that.

I know how stressful it it, and how terribly it feels if it seems like it was touch and go - but, try not to dwell on it? "What ifs" only make it worse. Attitude goes a long way, so if you're making her laugh, making her feel safe, that's already incredibly important. I can only offer humble internet hugs.

I don't have any fic to rec atm, but maybe you should try to take your mind off of things? I know there isn't much you can do in the meantime, and if you obsess over it then it'll only make the situation all the more unbearable. Try to be there for her, but take care of yourself too.

If you want friendship stuff, maybe start a new series that's friendship heavy? I hear Rizzoli and Isles is good, and Starsky and Hutch is the ultimate buddy (cop) show. There are plenty of other series out there with strong friendships, so it shouldn't be hard to find something to occupy your time with!

I do wish your friend the very best though. It's difficult when someone you love is sick, and I know how hard it is to focus on anything else (and not to lose hope), but in the end the best thing to do is support them in a healthy manner. You don't want to make yourself sick, too.

I'm a bit far from her distance wise so getting information about all of this has been making me stressed. I just watched Ringu with my boyfriend and watched Psycho and The Thing a couple of days ago. For some reason old horror movies are a comforting distraction, which probably sounds weird.

Yeah, she means the world to me. I have a few other best friends that I'm close to, but none of them compare to the friendship I have with her and how much she means to me. I don't know if it makes sense. Her mother says we both have to be strong for her though and I do agree, so I'm trying to keep thinking positive. Focusing on making get well gifts for her and thinking about her smiling again is helping.

Anyway, thanks for the comforting words. I'll try watching Rizzoli and Isles.
