Wizards Vs Aliens secret! \o/

I cried like a *baby* at that episode. I didn't know it was going to be an SJA story. I'm so sorry, OP. That is a hard thing to take.

You say it was brilliant, and Gwendoline Christie is awesome, right? So I know you can be truly happy for the team that got to make it in the end, now you've made this secret.

I have no idea what's going on in this secret but The Thirteenth Floor was a pretty fantastic movie

Well, that's all I had to say, carry on everyone

I kind of feel the same way, but - and I don't know how much they altered the script to make it fit in the WvA universe - I think it was a lot more powerful with Tom and Lexi.

Like who would it have starred if it was kept as a SJA ep? Clyde and Rani? Clyde and Sky? And if they had chosen to do something different, one-off characters wouldn't have had the same impact as series regulars.

So yeah. Overall I'm still really sad that SJA is gone, but DAMN did that episode work as a fully WvA episode.

In Phil Ford's interview with Den of Geek, he says that it was going to be about Clyde and Rani. (And the baby was RTD's idea, naturally.)

OP

Yeeeeahhh...I agree it worked really well with the frenemies...I did really want to see the Clani version. I had five years to get attached to them as opposed to the WvA one, I think of them as 'kids/teens' more than I do Tom/Lexi so it would have been impatful to me to see them grow up, you KNOW they woulda had a kid and names it ater Sarah Jane....

In a perfect world I'd keep the WvA ep AND have them make a SJA novel as well. Bit I imagine with copyrights and such it wouldn't be possible. :(

I really love Clani too, so I would've been happy with either, but yeah. The episode just wouldn't have had that poignancy with them like it did with Tom/Lexi. My head canon is that Clyde and Rani will eventually be together, and failing that, be BFFs forever, the way that Sarah Jane never truly lost touch (and even made new connections) with her fellow companions. So losing one future together would be sad, but not tragic in the way WvA was able to present it.

So yeah... Personally still more connected to Clyde and Rani (like you), but ultimately think the story itself is stronger with Tom and Lexi.

To be fair to the produced version (also currently the only WvA I have watched), it works absolutely *spectacularly* as is. The fact that Tom and Lexi are on opposing sides(/species) makes what happens to them in the forest all the more stunning, and subsequently heartbreaking.

This so much.

I had no idea that this was originally an idea for the SJA, but I can't imagine it working as powerfully as it did in WvA. I cried so much at this ep in particular but the whole relationship between Tom and Lexi throughout the series was really well done. I'm glad I gave the show a second chance after my initial assessment of it being rubbish kid's telly.

The Thirteenth Floor was honestly one of the best episodes of any TV show I watched last year. Cried like a baby.
