Well, the original was definitely not that stand-out of a song at the time. But it did have more "dramatic" elements, for lack of a better term, like the ringing/gong at the beginning. What was generic then isn't generic now.

I love sugary J-Pop (I genuinely enjoy most Precure theme songs for being lively and silly), but I have to agree that... I dunno, I get that they want to make this fresh. It is a reboot, not just a remake. But it just doesn't sound right for Sailor Moon to me.
