The problem is, if you compare some of her poses and similar shots from the original anime, she DID emote in those. We saw her doing the whole "In the name of the moon, I'll punish you!" bit, and comparison gifs are all over tumblr.

Personally, I suspect that this will be great, as far as story and character development goes. It will match with the manga more, and I like that. I'll enjoy watching it and ignore the art. But on a purely visual level, this is very bland and even plastic looking, I think?

Also, I think the original manga art is lovely. It just doesn't lend itself well to actual movement, because they have to sort of tighten it up, whereas the manga could flow to just imply movement.

Only replying to the speech thing: personally? She is far stiffer in the original than she is in the remake. I liked the flow better and her eyes seemed more focused on who she staring at than in the original.
