And I was wondering why they were discussing a hit where your wrist takes the impact, because surely that's a bad thing, and then I got to the OP's note saying it is a bad thing, don't do it, but they're talking about it like it's something you might prefer to do and IDK martial arts.

It can break your wrist, but it also delivers much more force against your opponent. The pictured character uses it when he desperately needs to end a fight quickly and is willing to take the risk.
