If you don't like the most popular pairing (or most popular pairings) then you're going to have a bad time.

This, pretty much. I'm usually lucky enough to like the popular pairing(or one of the popular pairings at least) in most fandoms I'm in but I have been in fandoms where that's not been the case, and while it was annoying there was nothing I could do about it so I just stopped going to the kinkmemes.

Norsekink is an... interesting place(I found some fic I liked there but I did mostly just stick to the completed fills page and read my way through that).

Yea, I've been lucky with shipping as well. More often than not I do like the popular pairing. Guess I'm just predictable, but it works out for me in the end!

Though I have been on the 'almost no one else likes this' side of things as well, and when that happens I usually don't spend much time in the fandom.
