Ian McKellen, Adam Brown, and Luke Evans are gay. There are rumours about another gay man in there because of something Ian McKellen said.

There used to be a lot of rumors about Patrick Stewart being gay because of A)Being single for a long time B)hanging out with McKellen and thus everybody believing they were a couple and C)McKellen saying he was going to officate Stewart's wedding, so everybody just assumed it was a same - sex wedding.

Stewart just married a woman in her early thirties.

To be fair though, Stewart has a good sense of humor about the rumors.

And I just realized you were talking about people in the Hobbit and, of course, Patrick Stewart is not in the Hobbit. Sorry.

To be fair though, I think your talking about Cumberbatch, in terms of rumors about Hobbit people being gay.

To be fair though, Stewart has a good sense of humor about the rumors.

It would be unfortunate to reach Stewart's age and uptight about that sort of thing. He'd been married to women twice before, the people who know him personally probably have some sense of the people he's attracted to, and he's at a point in his career where no one really cares about that sort of thing.
