I heard SO MUCH about how it subverted the Chosen One trope and I'm like....no it didn't....

I had no idea people even thought that way about it. The Lego movie was just fantastic entertainment to me, subversion, or anything like that never came into the equation. I went to see it because I love every Lego video game I've ever played. I figured if it was anything like them, I was going to love it.

I feel like the movie started out trying to subvert The Chosen One trope but ended up going with it anyway.

"You're special because your not special but you are ACTUALLY special and EVERYONE IS SPECIAL!!!"

This is possibly my fourth or third favorite movie but that was pretty ridiculous.

I thought that was the joke...

This. I'm sick of how everyone seems to expect every movie to subvert or avert something.

I'm not sure if they were trying to or not, but it was still a fantastic movie.

IA, I watched it a few days ago and was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. It was adorable and very funny.

Was it really trying to?

I know people for whom "play how you want" is plenty subversive, mind you... XD

(Anonymous) 2014-07-02 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
OMFG your stupid.

Like the rest of the people commenting here.

Is this that what people think of the movie?

You are the epitome of the 'Everything is awesome'mass, brainless faceless moob.

Go read a book. I suggest 1984, watch the movie once more and come here again.

But everything IS awesome! Everything is cool when you're part of a team.

My stupid never did anything to you, so you leave him out of this!

(Anonymous) 2014-07-02 10:18 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, what in the rainbow-hued everloving fuck does 1984 have to do with The Lego Movie? Seriously, anon, enlighten me.

(Anonymous) 2014-07-02 12:21 pm (UTC)(link)
It's serious, and dark and real literature and what you unculuted swines should be reading if you want to be worth anything. JJust like ayrt, who wouldn't have read it if it wasn't assigned reading in high school but that's a minor detail.

(Anonymous) 2014-07-02 12:22 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL wtf?

Yes, someone likes a silly, fun movie. That must mean she's stupid. It must also mean that she never reads books or seeks out critical media.

Go finish college. Grow up, then come back here when you've had some actual life experience and realize that your ire is ridiculous.
