I don't think that's necessarily true. I think he would have been very like Cedric Diggory - popular and well loved if James had raised him. Probably a little bit arrogant and maybe even a bit of a bully, as James was shown to be in Snape's memories.

I think Harry would have turned out more like Draco if Snape had raised him.

The thing is, though, we only see Snape's memories, and we never see the years after that, when James presumably grew up (or else Lily wouldn't have married him), so it's not 100% that Harry-raised-by-James would have become a bully. For all we know, James might have regretted his actions, and gone the other direction, making sure that Harry never bullied anyone, because he understood that it was a shitty thing to do.

I think Lily's influence probably would have balanced him out a bit

It all depends on the Sirius factor. If Sirius was in the Potters lives (seems likely) and if Sirius grew up (a lot) then Harry would be probably a bit bland and up himself, but probably mostly okay (classic Hufflepuff material). If Sirius as we met him, whom everyone seems to say was pretty much like he was at school even with Azkaban trauma, was in the Potters lives then Harry would be probably closer to Draco material. Sirius was an asshole, but an awfully charismatic one.

I agree with your assessment of how Harry would've turned out if his parents had raised him, but I don't think he would've turned into Draco version 2.0 under Snape's guidance. Snape didn't value obnoxious arrogance. He valued cold, biting wit, study, and talent. Harry would've turned out very serious, very snarky, and possibly a perfectionist. Arrogance might've been a factor, but it wouldn't have been like Malfoy's brand. Draco has to tell everybody who his father is, how much money he has, etc. Harry-raised-by-Snape would show everybody how good he is at magic.

Yeah, I don't see Snape raising someone like Draco after what he went through at school.

So basically he would have been some bizarre combination of Harry, Draco, and Hermione?

That's an interesting idea but I'm just imagining how much of a fandom darling such a character would have been.

When the chips were down and your life needed saving, he would come through for you in a brilliant fashion. All while implying that you were an imbecile.

It worked for Sherlock...

Yeah, to get Draco!Harry he'd have to be raised by Sirius.

I am now picturing Harry Potter as Raistlin from the Dragonlance books. It is a weird thought, and how did you even get there, Brain?

But honestly, if Snape had gotten with Lily and had a child with her, he probably wouldn't be so much of the douchebag he is during the series. He'd likely be pretty different, at least in a lot of ways. I doubt he'd raise Harry to be anti-muggle or whatever, anyway, and he wouldn't resent Harry anymore, so who knows.

Yeah, this. He'd be a lot happier, and Lily's grounding influence could work on him just as well as it did on James. We have no idea what a Snape who got to marry and have a child with the woman he loved would have been like. He'd probably still have been a snarky bastard with an unhealthy interest in the Dark Arts, but no way would he be the same as he is in canon.

Not to mention, we don't know how James would be as a father, either. Being as he never really had the chance to be one. Snape requires even more imagination, since the character he presents to Harry relies off of being jaded, alone, and resenting Harry for being his father's son.
