I find it horrifying and disturbing.

But I'm not good at putting into words why. Maybe I'm just clutching pearls, maybe I've got a validpoint.

I think that it sort of makes me uncomfortable when I look at it.

That being said, it's a drawing, not a real child, and therefore I don't think it should be illegal.

It deeply creeps me out, and despite trying to keep an open mind, I generally have a very hard time staying friends with people who express an admiration for it.

I think it's disgusting and I believe that people who are into that are probably wrong in the head and weirdos, but that's all. It's just drawings, real kids aren't involved, so it's okay. It's just a weird fucked up fetish like furry, guro or scat.

How mad must scat fans be that they're always compared with beastiality, peadophilia, and mutilation/murder fetishists.

not my thing, but i don't care if someone else is into it.

most people who enjoy it usually like to imagine themselves in the role of the child anyway and there are no real children involved, so let people fantasize about whatever they want, i say.

It makes me uncomfortable and I don't like how prevalent it's become in the anime community. I kind of view it like violent video games; doesn't harm real people, but may or may not normalize the behavior. I mean, obviously most people can separate fiction from reality and won't cross the line, but being in a environment where sexualizing children is a-okay and encouraged normalizes it in a way. But it could also give people who have those sort of attractions a healthy and legal way of release so idk. I also think there's a sort of double standard where women liking shota is less creepy than men liking loli.

And I'd rather the law focus on actual victims than drawings.

There's also the little bit about young teens seeking out porn involving people their own age complicating everything.

I think stores that sell sexy clothing aimed at young kids and parents who buy that sort of stuff for their kids are way more guilty of normalizing the sexualization of children than cartoon porn, tbh.

I saw a girl the other day who couldn't have been older than twelve dressed in shorts so short I could basically see the bottoms of her asscheeks, a top that ended right below her (nonexistent) boobs, and sandals with heels. Oh yeah, and she had makeup on too. She looked like a miniature hooker-in-training. No drawings will ever be as creepy as seeing something like that in real life.

Same here. Love me some loli and shota. (Especially straight shota, seemingly the only genre that can get Japanese artists to draw women with big hips and asses I can relate to.) I realize it's kind of creepy, but what the hell; so's everything if you look at it too closely.

I think it's morally wrong and I think it's harmful. I think that it does actual, real harm by normalizing the ideas involved. You could compare it to other kinks, like people who have rape fantasies or whatever, but there just seems to be a more nuanced understanding of the gap between fantasy and reality among people with those fantasies.

To be honest, I'm probably overreacting to what I've seen in anime and manga fandom. Because I'm sure that there are people who have that nuanced understanding that it's just a fantasy - fwiw I don't have this reaction to ageplay as a kink. But I really do hate how common it has become in parts of anime and manga fandom and how normal it is, and there are a lot of people in there, both in America and in Japan, who really do seem to be just fucking awful about it and incapable of maintaining that gap between reality and fantasy. I look at those people and it really does lead me to believe that it's impossible to separate them and it's better just to not have it available at all.

I find it quite a bit creepy, but don't think it should be illegal. Otherwise all the other porn that would be harmful if anyone was stupid/awful enough to try it in real life would have to go the same way, which is basically, like...all porn.

I don't like it, it's not my thing, but I think it's silly to ban it under the pretense of "oh noes child porn." Drawings are not actual children who can be harmed. And people who can't distinguish fact from fiction and fantasy from reality - that's a much bigger problem that's not limited to loli/shota.

Keep it far away from me (along with most other anime and porn, for that matter.) But as long as no actual children are involved, whatever.

I think some of the people who're into it are horrible, horrible people. On the other hand, I'm into TF, and if you spend enough time on /d/, you discover that some of the people who're into TF use it to enhance their primary fantasy--raping and brutalizing dominant women to psychologically break them. Inflation fetishists can be similarly fucked up, and I'd be willing to bet that you could find these people among diaper fetishists if you looked hard enough. The problem isn't the fetish, the problem is the fetishists, and I don't think banning their porn makes them any less awful.

There was once a time when I was fine with it. I got over it.

I don't like anything that strongly implies sexuality with per-pubescent children and hope anything like that I do see is appropriately portrayed as wrong. Post-puberty starts to get tricky but I will boil it down to say I, over all, prefer younger teenagers only getting involved with other teenagers. Older teens I waver and can read with adults.
