But that's what cats do? Domesticated or not they hunt, it's dumb to get mad about something that's engrained in their DNA.

DA. And that's exactly why I get mad at the owners, because they should know that too, and keep their cuddly little murder machine and its DNA indoors.

The point is not what is biologically ingrained into them, but the owners knowing how to act on that.

Given that Australia has had a lot of problems with cats hunting wildlife, I consider it an act of mild stupidity if a cat owner does not keep their cat indoors at night. A cat owner who goes to the extent of installing a cat-run for their cat to have restricted outdoor time get awards in my book.
