Re: Looking for a fanfic
It totally wasn't.
Thanks, Hawaii 5-0. (God, I'm easily pleased.)
And I should've caught up with DDD and OUAT by now too, but nope. NOPE. I am so slow. Orrrrr I just watch something new. Like In the Flesh. Or Hemlock Grove, which I need to finish up as well. I'm terrible.Re: Looking for a fanfic
Hmmm, what's In the Flesh? And I've heard a bunch of good things about Hemlock Grove, I need to watch that.
Oooh! What did you think of the Fargo ending? You were totally right, Gus and Molly were adorable!
I still have Salem to watch (although I'm thinking at this point I might wait until the end of the season since there are only a couple more episodes), and I need to catch up with Game of Thrones and True Blood. I finally watched a bit of Defiance, though (which I did like...it reminded me a little of Game of Thones in a weird way, which probably sounds crazy) and ended up deleting Continuum since I couldn't really get into it (and the backstory of the "bad guys" annoyed me).

OMG, let me tell you right now, Hemlock Grove is awful. Like not even joking, it is laughably bad. And rarely do I call things bad; guess my tastes are flexible like that (or my standards are just low, whatever; doesn't matter) but the dialogue is so, so awkward. And yet I still watched like 5 episodes in a day and a half, and want to finish. Not sure what that says about me, but there's something about it, I'm not even sure what.
In the Flesh though I can actually recommend because it's both beautiful cinematically, but the writing is outstandingly good as well and the cast is perfection. The whole product is so, so impressive and the staff are so talented. It's basically 'what if zombies were put on meds and reintroduced into society. How would society cope?'. I went into it thinking it was going to be some Shaun of the Dead esc comedy, maybe indie and quirky, and quickly realized the whole show was a metaphor for mental illness or even being gay, and that it was heartbreaking and painful but in the best way possible, on top of being ridiculously poignant. Like, seriously, even if you don't like zombies, it isn't really about zombies in the first place, it's about people and their struggles to accept themselves and prejudice. (Oh, and the main character is queer. So...you know, if that helps.)
Right? I loved Gus and Molly. I can't believe everyone (good) got out of it alive! (Molly's father, man. I feared for him the most because he was a relatively minor character but still such a good one, so his death would've had meaning but it wouldn't have been a MC. So glad that didn't happen.) I was SO worried that Molly would get shot, and when Gus went after Malvo I started screaming at my screen in frustration and fear. Bad Gus, bad. At lest it worked out in the end. As for the actual ending, I liked it. All things considered it was relatively simple, but it worked for the show. Lester got what was coming to him, and what he brought on himself. His death scene was poetic in a way. And the chief, I'm glad he stepped down; in the end he wasn't a terrible guy, he just wasn't suited for the job. Glad Molly gets it now. And Malvo, I also liked that he kicked it in the end, even if (in a way) he turned Gus into a killer as well. (Which he would've enjoyed.) Though...Key & Peele :( Nooooooo.
Tell me how you feel about Salem after you watch! And I want to watch GOT for Brienne but it will probably be forever before that happens. True Blood I never got into, but hey, vampires are sexy. Oh, and Defiance has a new season now! So I hope you like it and continue to watch. We're only two episodes in, but I've been loving it.
Re: fargo finale spoilers
Hmmm. Might have to skip it, then.
Ok, I definitely will have to check out In the Flesh! That sounds amazing, and totally like my kind of thing. What channel is it on?
Me, too. I was really surprised with the time jump, but happy about it because of where they ended up. I also couldn't believe that everyone I wanted to live lived! And the bad guys died! And Molly got to be chief and everyone was happy! I'm glad it ended the way it did. And I liked Key and Peele too. I'd only seen bits and pieces of their show and didn't really know much about them beforehand, but I thought they were good on this show.
I will! Hopefully I'll get to watch soon. GOT is kind of weird for me because even though I really like it so far I don't exactly feel any urgent need to catch up. And honestly with True Blood more often than not I'm thinking it's ridiculous. I got way behind (I haven't seen last season yet) but since this one is the last one I do want to catch up eventually just to see how everything ends. And I saw commercials for the new season of Defiance! I need to catch up with it too.
Re: fargo finale spoilers
Don't get me wrong, Hemlock Grove is appealing in some way, I just can't explain how. Because IDEK why I watched so much of it. It's a curse, maybe.
In the Flesh is on BBC3! Or, er, was. Who knows where it will be if the show returns for another series, but there's currently two series totaling in nine episodes. It's a mini-series, but in those nine episodes the show manages to make an extremely sympathetic and compelling cast and world. I hope you get to watch it and if you do, you like it!
At first I was like, "What?!" about the time skip, but I embraced it because Molly and Gus were too cute not to roll with. Plus Malvo pretending to be a 'normal' person was great television. Same with Key and Peele; I'm not super familiar with them outside of this show, but their performances were fantastic and they were very likable. This is one of the few endings where almost everything I wanted to happen did indeed happen. It's so rare for things to have a 'happy' ending these days, so I guess some people might look at it and say it isn't 'exciting' or controversial enough, but yup, I dig it a lot for that very reason.
I've been there. As long as you feel like coming back at some point I suppose there's no problem? At least you aren't actively dreading it! Which has been a problem for us in the past.
Re: fargo finale spoilers
Because of the hot guys? (At least I've heard there are hot guys, idk if that's actually true.)
Hmmm. Maybe I can find a way to...obtain it. It really does sound awesome, though! I'll definitely have to try to track it down.
Yes! I was like 'whaaaaaaaat?!' but then I was like '...ok. Works for me' and went with it lol. I feel like there have been a few things I've watched recently that have had happy endings, and it did kind of surprise me. I've gotta admit, I like happy endings sometimes (although like you said, I guess they're not exciting enough or whatever for some people). I mean, I don't want everything I watch to have a happy ending because that would get old after awhile but for I definitely don't mind characters I like living happily ever after.
Yep, I'll get back to it eventually. There aren't many things (well, at least relatively, in the grand scheme of the large amount of shows I watch/watched) that I gave up totally without planning on eventually watching all of it, but maybe I just like torturing myself with bad TV sometimes?
Re: fargo finale spoilers
Maybe? I find them weirdly hot. Well, one I find generally hot, the other it kind of depends on the angle; he's beautiful at moments, at others he doesn't do it for me. But there's something campy about it and I guess that pulled me in despite the awful writing.
It's definitely worth it if you can. I think you could also watch it on the BBC website if you downloaded an add-on that changed your location.
Same. I like tragedy when it suits the story, but sometimes I just can't take the idea of more tragedy and need someone to get away happy. Life is too hard for no one to ever get their happy ending.
We've all done it, I think. Half the time I don't care about OUAT anymore, yet I still plan to catch up. It's a sickness and a time waster, I don't even understand.
Re: fargo finale spoilers
Hmmm...maybe I'll still check it out someday then...
I don't understand it, either. I'll find myself watching something and think 'this is not interesting, why am I wasting my time watching it?' but I still feel the need to finish it for some strange reason.

Re: fargo finale spoilers
(Oh, and I had forgotten that Aisha Tyler was a journalist or whatever and followed them in canon for an episode. Haha, but the fic was before that.)
Re: fargo finale spoilers
Haha I'd forgotten about that too! I barely remember that episode. Maybe I do need to rewatch the show...
