(Anonymous) 2014-07-02 08:33 am (UTC)(link)Look at how well Neville does when Lupin takes him under his wing. That's good teaching--encouraging students and making them feel capable so they can learn.
I can't think of a single instance in which Snape successfully teaches anyone anything. He can't even teach Harry Occlumency, which was kind of vital to the whole anti-Voldemort cause. He can't get over his own issues to teach Harry the way he needed to be taught (meaning kindly and patiently, rather than with a barrage of goading and insults).
