But OP's friend is writing original fiction and not getting paid for it. That's, like, the main thrust of the secret. It's why OP is annoyed, because fanfic writers wanna get paid for what they're doing when her friend isn't getting paid for what she's doing.

It's basically "if my friend can't have it, no one can!"
