CJ is one of the most well-balanced Grand Theft Auto protagonists. He can have a good time with family and friends and it's just as natural to him as a crazy jetpack-powered killing spree. I don't know where people are getting this idea that being a criminal means having no loyalties or other interests in life, and I think GTA is richer for having characters that are complete (if flawed) human beings.

Holy crap a GTASA secret.

CJ is my favourite GTA protagonist, no lie. He lives in a world filled with lunatics and freaks and corruption, yet while he himself is a gangster unafraid to kill, steal, and destroy, he comes off as more rational and thoughtful and caring than most of the people around him. Witness how he completely ignores Sweet's warnings against hanging out with anyone from Varrios Los Aztecas, and becomes friends with Cesar through Cesar's relationship with CJ's sister.

And while he is A+++ at the gangbanging stuff, he sees beyond the boundaries of Ganton, beyond the Los Santos city limits, beyond the petty gangster hood bullshit.

Compare him to, say, Tommy Vercetti -- Tommy to me represents how most people actually play GTA. (Trevor is the same way.)
