Uhhhhhh...I think the title is self-explanatory. You should explain WHY you find them dumb or weird, though, or we have nothing to talk about!

Too many to count. But mainly love songs that sound more like an obsession or not being able to move on from a crush rather than actual love. It gets old after a while.

See: Adele. There is nothing sweet or romantic or even wistful about "Someone Like You"; it's "I'm not over you; how can I make that your problem?"

Someone Like You isn't supposed to be sweet or romantic or wistful, so job well done.

i honestly have no idea. either way, i don't like it.

Diane Warren wrote the song about his daughter? What?

Said I Loved You But I Lied by Michael Bolton. I think it counts because it was pretty popular when it came out. The whole song is about how what he feels is MORE than love, so calling it love is WRONG. I just cannot.

Also the music video for the song is the most hilariously glorious early 90s cheese, complete with slow-motion pretty lady on a horse and long-haired, open-shirted Michael Bolton spreading his arms out on top of a mountain.

That John Legend song. Ugggh.

Hmm I remember one time my mom and I were in the car and 'I Just Haven't Met You Yet" came on, and my mom said "Never trust anyone who says he'll give more than he gets, because that means he's keeping track." and I was like WHOA

He's also expecting this hypothetical woman to "change him" and "make him work," at which point he will become the ideal partner. So anything he does wrong is her fault for not loving him enough.

Yeah, ditto on that one. Michael Buble needs to stick with the old-school Rat Pack songs, his original material is weak.

Michael Buble has a gorgeous voice and imo that song IS rather catchy, but there's a lot about it that isn't so great. The whole changing thing an anon mentioned for example.

I think Otis Redding's "That's how strong my love is", is a really beautiful love song :)

"All of Me" by John Legend. I think that's supposed to be a romantic song? Whatever. It pisses me off every time I hear it come on, because it's supposed to be romantic but is mostly about the dude singing it. Even the title isn't about whoever is so amazing in his life. It's obnoxious.

Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton. It's just unforgivably dull to me, too slow and repetitive and it just grates on my nerves every time its in the radio.

He originally wrote it because Pattie Boyd was taking FOREVER to get ready to go out and he was getting pissed off at her for it.

The weird thing about that song is, I don't care to listen to the radio edit.

But if they play the entire thing, I don't have a problem with it!

It's kind of like Maroon 5's "This Love." I'm all "meh" with the radio edit, but I think the complete song is great. (And I can say this as someone who just isn't very impressed with them right now.)
