Ugh. (Fitness)

I was going to go for a walk tonight after dinner once it had cooled down outside to mid-70s range, but then my ankle started hurting out nowhere for absolutely no goddamn reason.

I hate being fat (because there probably was a goddamn reason and that's probably it, it's just not like a twisted it or overworked it anything).

SA

Ditto the opposite knee, which just sitting here I had forgotten about.

I get something similar. I had tendinitis (sp?) in my left foot for about 6 months. By the time that healed, my other foot was hurting because I had been overcompensating and putting all my weight on it. It is somehow related to weather and exercise. Too much walking = pain. Not enough walking = pain. Thing is I could take pain meds but a) I'm resistant to a bunch of them and b) side effects are often just worse than the pain.

So, I just limp on some days. It's one of the big reasons I want to lose weight, the other being my blood pressure.

:(

If it hurts too much I would say skip the walk entirely because you don't want to hurt yourself further, but sometimes exercise can help with the pain and get some of the kinks out. Just depends on the person and the situation, really; sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't.

Sorry, anon. I hope you feel better! (And idk how heavy you are or if your weight is the problem, but losing weight can help a lot, so even if you feel bad now maybe this won't always be an issue?)

Turns out once I had shoes on walking felt a little better, and once I got going I was fine. There's a trail that loops around my neighborhood for 1.25 miles and I walked it in 32 minutes. I felt like I could have gone a little farther but mot the .86 miles that is an abbreviated version of the loop, so I stopped there (I like loops, and I don't like turning around and going back the way I came.)

I'm 240, down from 253 in November. Because it's been such slow going, I don't really know that I'm feeling or seeing the difference, but I bet if I strapped 13 pounds of weight back on I'd notice it. Got a doctor's appt in two weeks and am determined to be under 240 by then.

I'm glad you managed! Comfortable shoes can make a big difference, and any exercise will help. Getting out and walking is good for you, too; everyone needs a bit of sun.

Honestly, even if you had lost more...sometimes you just don't notice for a bit. It wasn't until I lost around 40 pounds that I could look in the mirror and see much of a difference. I mean, of course there was one, my clothes started fitting poorly and there was less of me, but I didn't really see it myself, you know? Maybe take a picture now, use that as a means of comparison in the future? That worked better for me than just using memories; memory can be faulty.

Any progress is good, though! 13 pounds is a nice start, and I know it isn't easy. Don't be too hard on yourself; you're doing well.

Good luck with the doctor's appointment! Maybe he can give you tips?
