Isn't that what they did with Star Trek Nemesis too? Just crib wildly from TWoK and hope no one would notice that shouting and explosions didn't cover the joins?

Thank you, I had almost wiped Nemesis from my mind.

The best thing I'll say about Abrams's Trek is that it's not the worst Trek we've seen, which isn't saying much.

EDIT: Although I will say that since I'm reading Heaney's Beowulf, that Khan works because it's a very old revenge story, not a new one. Into Darkness fails because the Enterprise is just collateral damage for a conflict that's really CumberKhan vs. Admiral Robocop.
