The point is that there was no need for a reboot. Just continue the work that had already been started by TNG, DS9 and VOY. I liked those better than TOS anyway.

They had to do a reboot though because of two words. Admiral. Janeway.

That pissed off more fans than the car chase scene and Data's superman flight combined. Something had to be done to wipe that away.

Well, I missed that, apparently. Probably had something to do with my television getting stolen between the last two seasons of Voyager.

Sorry to say but Admiral Janeway still exists. The new movies are just an alternate timeline. The original timeline remains untouched by the events of the movies.

I choose to believe that after the call to Picard, she fell through an anomaly and got herself and her desk lost in a distant galaxy. Frankly I also choose to believe that when Starfleet promoted her it was with an admonition that it was just for show and she should on no account attempt to give orders to the real officers, oh and try not to lose the desk Katie.
