Dissociative to the source material, yes. But at least Abrams Star Trek movies can stand on their own and someone not familiar with the Trek universe could go to the theaters and see a fun spaceship movie. (Hell I probably would have liked the 2nd one more if I didn't know anything about Star Trek.)

The Airbender movie was just unbearable all around. It was all talk and no show. Nothing made sense, it dragged on and on and went nowhere. The acting was awful. There was no emotion or connection.
