Probably because most of the CW shows fanbases are stupid, whiny, bratty teenagers, looking to self - insert themselves into romances, looking for the 'perfect man' because they are still brainwashed by Twilight crap.

Well, back in the olden days, slashers managed to stay away from the "icky het" fans ;-) and form our own corner of fandom - but yeah, I think part of it is that people just don't give the shows a chance because of the rabid young fans. Which is sad, because 1) the CW is pretty much the only network that's consistently making genre shows (which are admittedly more than imperfect, but that only makes them more fixable through fic) and 2) Teen Wolf isn't much better than many of the CW shows, but it still seems to have a lot of adult slash fans. Too bad.

Wut? Are you intending to insult the people who like most of the CW shows, enjoy het, are teen-aged and those who like Twilight?

Idiot.

Felicity is that character everyone self-inserts with, and that's why olicity is the main pairing. If Felicity didn't exist, Laurel would be the default JUST LIKE ME shipped with every ideal man of the show. Except for Diggle, because we all know most fangirls don't like hot black guys.

Nope! Didn't you read the original comment starting this thread? People disliked Laurel from the start and flailed around because they didn't want to pair her with anyone. (I was one of those people. She's growing on me, though.) I kinda ship Felicity/Oliver. I more ship the femslash. I do not ship Laurel at all atm. And wouldn't even if Felicity did not exist. At least unless they redeem the character more.

The problem with your theory is that Laurel came first, and was rather soundly rejected. Felicity came later, and even then wasn't more than a very minor recurring character until later in the season. She didn't become a regular until season two. It's true that if Felicity hadn't come along fandom would have eventually latched onto someone else to pair with Oliver (possibly Sara maybe), but it wouldn't have been Laurel. That ship had already sailed (if you'll forgive the pun).
