I'm most disappointed by Usagi's funny faces. They aren't that expressive.

I feel so bad for being disappointed by this. Everyone in my circles of friends is head over heels for it and I'm just underwhelmed.

Same here, everyone around seems to love it but I really, really can't share their enthusiasm so I'm keeping my opinions to myself (and if anyone asks, I'll say I haven't had time to watch it yet).

Oh, Usagi's face is so abnormally inexpressive. It's like they wanted to keep the quality of the drawing constant, but instead ended making her look like she only has a very few expressions.

I'm doing the same. I've got one friend who I voiced my disappointment to so there's that at least.

Unfortunately, it isn't just limited to Usagi. It's like the animators don't know what facial expressions to give the characters.

If there's one thing that I'm excited for, it is all the fanart that this series will bring. Especially of thevillains .

For some reason I can be VERY forgiving with secondary/background characters and if they don't have expression or are just background stills, I don't mind much.

But main characters? I prefer off-model shots than this, TBH. And in this case it's specially bad because this is Usagi and I can't stand seeing her look like a pretty mannequin with two or three different faces(?).

Me too ♥ I have high hopes in the fandom, even if the anime continues to deliver this kind of "quality".

I can too for background characters, but for characters like Naru? Nope. I'd prefer it be offmodel too. At least then we'd get some funny facial expressions! And poor Usagi, she really just looks like a doll. There's almost no energy coming from except for her voice.

I'm looking forward to more fanart by Nardack. Have you seen her Moon Pride pic? So gorgeous!

I can almost ignore it with Naru because as far as I remember she doesn't get that much screentime in the manga and since this is supposed to be a more faithful adaptation... but still, I wish anyone would look alive for at least some few seconds.

I'm biased because I love Naru, but yeah, she doesn't get much in the way of screentime. Ugh, I'm so worried about how my favorite villains will be handled.

I understand, I liked Naru a lot in the first anime and I remember I was really disappointed when I discovered how little she appears in the manga.

TBH I don't want to think in the villains yet, because maybe if a lower my expectations enough I'll be able to enjoy something of Crystal.

I hope she draws more Nehelenia!! She is so gorgeous to begin with and even more so in Nardack's style. Did you see that Black Lady/Nehelenia pic?

She gets shafted so much! This will be the third time she will just disappear and never been heard from again. At least the first anime give her more if a role and that whole romance with Nephrite. Speaking if which, yeah, Crystal is going to be disappointing on that front alone for me.

I can't blame you. The villains were fabulous and actual characters in the first anime. Not so much in the manga.

I did! And I'm so happy she also has some Sailor Saturn arts. She has always been one of my favorites ♥

Her romance with Nephrite was so good! I think I even cried when he died in the anime. In the other hand, his storyline in the manga felt so plain and boring and to think it'll be the same here... ugh.

I'm sure I'll also miss Kunzite and Zoisite relationship and... no, I don't want to think more about this or I'll end holding the small pointless hope that even if it follows closely the manga, the villains will get more fleshed out like in the first anime.

I hope she draws the Outer Senshi, particularly Uranus! She's my absolute favorite senshi! There's so many characters I'd love for her to draw! And the world needs more Nehelenia fanart. She's so stunning and it is super disappointing how little there is. I'm so happy to share her art with you.

I'm going to miss the Nephrite/Naru relationship so much, but at least there's always the original anime for that. I tear up whenever I think of his death and hiw sorry he was they couldbt get that parfait.

Yeah, if they stick too closely to the manga then hardly any if the villains will be fleshed out. They're just fodder in the manga. And it was so disappointing because a lot of the characters looked interesting and yet she didn't do anything with them.

I'll be really happy if she does. As much as I'm fond of the Inner Senshi (because my childhood memories!), the Outer Senshi are my favorites.
But even if she doesn't, I'll keep an eye on her account because I'm sure her next arts are will be as great.

This new anime really shouldn't make us console ourselves thinking in the first anime :(

I also noticed that when she screams or does something where she would get an "ugly" face, she's usually shot from the back.

I completely agree with what you guys have been saying, I didn't even mind the first episode but the characters are so dead looking. Even more straight up gag expressions would be better.

And not to put my nostalgia glasses on but I went back and watched some old episodes of the original anime and it made it even more obvious how much expression Usagi lacks in the new one. I don't know how anyone can claim it's a manga inspired thing either, because Naoko was capable of making Usagi expressive when she wanted to.

I just wish they could massively upgrade the art and animation, it would be so perfect if we got some halfway decent art.

Yeah it's disappointing. I don't follow the latest animation companies but I don't know what would be better than Toei.
The 3D animation is so out of place. Ugh.
