Oh man. It's funny to look back on how much I watched that movie as a kid without realizing how disturbing the situation is.

Yeah, it is my dad's favorite movie, so I saw it a few times growing up and while I enjoyed it and found it funny, even when I was young-ish, I never felt quite right about it. I mean, the whole thing wouldn't have been a rom-com at all if he hadn't been a decent guy--if he'd been evil, the genre would have been straight up horror.
