applying for jobs and everything

i sent my application to my dream company a week ago and so far no reaction. i told myself i'd call after two weeks to check again but i've already kind of lost hope :(

i know that there's no way to tell when a company will react, but still. i sent it through someone who's in a big position there so i hoped i'd at least get a note saying i was rejected or something :(

It can take some time for a company to get back to you. One of the places I worked for didn't call for me for two whole months. So don't lose hope just let.

Do give them that follow up call, though. Showing interest will set you apart.

I'm sorry, anon. Jobhunting is a soul-crushing experience. I'd call them anyway, but, do prepare yourself for the possibility they won't hire you. That being said, some companies have long selection procedures. But it can't hurt to ask.

Agreeing with others: make the follow-up call. My current job I only got because I did a follow-up visit (my store is very close to my house so it was easy to do) and the manager decided to read my application rather than tossing it in the virtual rubbish bin with all the others.

That said, companies don't really care about you, they see you as just part of a large (and, currently, surplus) labor pool, so don't take it personally, and it's frustrating and dumb, but I think most companies never contact you unless they're sure they want to hire you. They just drop it in the dustbin and move on.
