I just started season 4. Boyd and Raylan eye-fuck more than almost anyone else I've seen on TV.

I remember watching the first season and gushing to a friend about their chemistry. It's ridiculous. I wish Boyd and Raylan had more scenes together in later seasons; they keep having less and less, and while I understand both characters have their own story-lines their relationship is one of the more interesting ones in the entire show. If we're lucky the last season will be chock-full of Boyd and Raylan, and we'll get some outstanding resolution to their storyline.

There's definitely this "unresolved" current to their relationship like they need to have it out, either with fists or fucking or both. I've just started season 4 and it's interesting to me that Boyd has what Raylan is pretending he doesn't want -- Ava's love and devotion and Arlo's respect, especially. (I don't think Raylan wants Ava per se, but he has a hole in him he tries to "fill" with the love of women, I think, as he's rarely without a girlfriend it seems.) I think Raylan is a little jealous of Boyd, tbh.

Raylan doesn't know what to do if he isn't in a relationship. I don't even know if he thinks of the women he's involved with as his girlfriends or not, but he just needs companionship, I think. He doesn't exactly have friends (in the usual sense, anyway), so I guess for Raylan someone he can enjoy talking with and also sleep with is the best of both worlds. If the show was a bit different he could've had that with Boyd, but of course his line of work puts them at odds and keeps their relationship hostile more often than not. Still, they both obviously care, and I can't get enough of that.

(And I think you're right, Boyd is a slick man and has done well for himself, even if he's not been honest about it. And he's always been better with people than Raylan has, too.)

Can't wait for season six! (Have no idea when it's going to air, but it can't come soon enough.)
