MediCal Coverage

(Anonymous) 2014-07-10 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Anyone from California have some experience with MediCal? I'm about to age out of my father's health insurance and I'm unemployed (for reasons that are both economic and health-related), so I'm pretty sure I qualify. But what's confusing me is how I'm supposed to answer the "how many in your household?" question. If I saw three and put down what my father makes, I don't get ay options. But my mother and father are both covered by Dad's insurance and I'm the one with virtually no income. So can I say that I'm a household of one even if I'm living with my parents?

I don't live in CA and am not able to help answer your question, but is there a phone # or office you can visit that can help answer that?

I have tried to file for Medicaid for my mom but later found out she doesn't qualify (thank you Indiana…). I did talk to someone one the phone that was really nice and helpful to answer my questions including how to fill out the form. Because if there is one thing that the government does well is make forms confusing!

Yes you can. It may ask if you live with other people later, answer truthfully, it won't count them since you're only applying for yourself. But if I can see the screencap of what options you get if you don't include them, I may be able to help more since I'll remember if I see it.
