It's funny because I saw Midnight Cowboy for a class in film school, and the teacher basically said the homoerotic subtext is widely accepted among film historians.

I don't get the idea of wanting a fandom for the "slash potential." I mean, it's not like we have a death of shows like that. This is a really weird concept for me. How can someone care about a show just for the "slash potential"? Don't you care about a show first because of its own merits, and THEN, because you are invested enough in the characters and the situation portrayed, you start caring about the characters' relationships and shipping slash pairings? IDGI.
