That really bugs me though. Because can't we at least pretend that Awards mean anything and are about skill and ability and not commercial success? It's like the opposite of the Oscar's where commercially successful automatically means not worthy of "serious" critical acclaim.

That would be nice but the Emmy's just don't really give a shit. They nominate whatever's been getting buzz from the critics while the rest of it is the same shows they nominate every year and then call it a day. The Golden Globes are a little more likely to branch out
