I thought the ending was good in that it was sooo painful but really moving.

But adorable? Kittens are adorable, that ending really wasn't what I'd call adorable .

"...adorable" is not the word I would use, OP. (Three words:

.)

If I felt up to hunting one of them down, Paul Darrow (Avon) has said in a couple of interviews that he smiled (and the director was OK with it) because it was something someone in a Western would do. (He likes Westerns, apparently.)

I massively enjoyed 'Blake', but 'adorable' is ... not really the word I'd use? I found it awesome in an operatic tragedy sort of way, and it was the perfect coup de grace for Avon's increasing insanity and obsession over the past two seasons, and it always gives me a little satisfied tingle to know that Servalan was last woman standing and still on the rise. As a 'bad guys win' ending, it was fantastic.

But, adorable, not so much.

Uh, I really liked the ending too... but I don't know that I'd call it 'adorable'.

I mean, i do know, and I definitely wouldn't call it adorable, but you know what I mean. I usually use the word 'NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!' to describe it.

But I still enjoy it. I hope they do a reboot someday.

They're working on it, but I'm sad that it'll no longer be on Syfy.

Adorable really isn't the word I'd use. I'm not surprised this is a secret.

Good, yes. But, um....what

It was an absolutely amazing ending.

But I'd never call it 'adorable'.

Then again, I'm still upset Cally died.

I'm going to tell my MiL about this one. She and her friends wrote a very traumatized letter to TPTB of B7--in crayon, because "they don't let us have sharp things here"--after watching it, and got back an apologetic and appreciative reply. Whereas the first thing I did after the credits rolled was to come up with as many scenarios as I could in which things worked out better than the episode would seem to suggest, taking inspiration from a filk with the final line "Oh good, there's no blood, they're alive, alive-o!" (Well, mostly.)

What are you talking about? Every B7 fan loves that ending! If you don't love this ending, how can you call yourself a B7 fan? *does not compute*

Are you on drugs or are you trolling?

PS: unless it's not about B7 at all but about redefining 'adorable' to be 'great' or 'perfect' or 'excellent' or whatever... In which case, meta discussions about new slang are not really what this community is about.

Especially if this is current usage of American slang in a fandom based on a 35+ years old British show: those of us who watched it when it aired are well past the age of using very current slang. If this means that you saw B7 on DVD (or streamed it, is that the word I am looking for?), it's good to know Blake's 7 can still attract new fans thanks to its great characters and writing: obvs. it's not the state-of-the-art FX or costumes that have kept the show current! Hee hee hee...

blake secret! that's always exciting.

i guess i think the ending is adorable in that avon stands over blake's body?

as for general reception - i think now most people are in agreement that it's very dramatic and interesting (i'm sort of in the minority, i think, although i could be wrong, for having major qualms with the whole bounty hunter business that keep 'blake' out of my top ten). and of course it features everyone's favourite character as the last man standing in a very dramatic montage. it'd be different if dayna was the only one left alive (i like dayna, but you know).

that said, there is certainly still that fan reaction of 'time to fix that', but i dont think your average PGP is motivated by hate of 'blake', so much as 'what are going to do with an ending where almost everyone is dead??' i mean, some people do write plausible PGP fics, but i prefer blake is president and everyone is happy... because that's the sort of person i am.

i also think it's fair to say that the ending was more disliked at the tme it was shot by the general public - whereas in fandom we know we can have our cake (really exciting dramatic conclusion, avon standing over blake's body) AND eat it too (and blake recovered from that wound and everyone else was just stunned, hooray). whereas for general public - that was it.
