oh my god. i understand wanting to introduce your readers to a new concept or idea, but that doesn't mean your comic must read like the product of an unholy coupling between a wikipedia article and one of those annoying ~informative~ tumblr posts.

I didn't stop reading Sinfest until a year after it introduced the feminists on tricycles. This is actually preferable in comparison.

You too huh?

I haven't read it, but what does feminists on tricycles mean, what exactly happened?

Literal feminists on tricycles. It works about as well as you would expect it to.

It's the grey spy problem. In Spy vs. Spy, the black spy sometimes won, and the white spy sometimes won, and that was fine. The grey spy always won and never lost, so she got boring and had to be written out. At the point when I stopped reading, the trike feminists had never lost at anything, even a verbal argument--in fact, nothing had seriously inconvenienced them. Sinfest is a setting where even God and the devil can fail or be humiliated, so it got seriously annoying.

I also found it frustrating how it kept being hammered in that Slick and the pig . . . what was his name . . . that they would never stop being sexist. Every time they tried to be egalitarian, it turned into a joke about how sexist they still were, and it felt like a denial of character development.

You know, I forgot grey spy was the name for it. Thank you. You've saved me time in my own future explanations.

AYRT

Is there any context to that, do they just show up for a panel or something?

And she's the one who's supposed to be right? I don't read the comic, so this looks like another "those silly wimmins and their crazy feminism" joke to me.

See, at first we thought that. Like, okay another character who represents something.

As was said above, the comic used to have a "spy vs spy" kinda deal. Most every character had times they were triumphant, most every character had the piss taken out of them excepting Jesus and Buddha, who were depicted as bros and generally avoided everybody elses crap except to act as mediator.

And even they weren't always immune

But the trike girls just kept showing up (eventually it went from one to three to 6) and kept being right all the time, the "Grey Spy" as it were.

Oh also all porn is bad in their viewpoint.

And then the comic shifted it's tone. The devil, always "The Man" as appropriate, was now the MENS, the representation of the Patriarchy.

It's the comics orarching theme now. Which is odd considering where he started, but he addressed that in a comic I'm having trouble finding but the short of it is he tears up his contract with the devil for sucess at the price of his soul.

4chan theory is he got himself some sjw girlfriend and that's spawned all this.

I'm still reading, but more out of a stubborn fascination at how a strip can just stop being funny.

I mean, there are funny comics that deal with social issues. Hell, even David Willis still gets a chuckle out of me sometimes. But Tatsuya got his soul back and lost the talent.
