No it's not a gay rights issue (partly because most people read Dean as bi, I know it's shocking that you can be attracted to two genders! And it doesn't even erase the fact he's attracted to women! But mostly because you're just concern trolling), and shockingly they DO enjoy things with actual representation too!
Like they didn't just decide 'we're going to pretend this character is gay for no reason', subtext is A Thing which people read into, and queer subtext is ridiculously common and has been happening for decades.

Subtext is definitely a thing, but so is people throwing two hot dudes together and wanting them to fuck because that itself is hot, especially at the expense of female characters who are already shit on enough as it is. (SPN already conveniently sidelines its women to focus on the manpain, unfortunately.)

Those are the people that I and other people have a problem with, and you're so hellbent on feeling like you're being oppressed or some shit that you think it's some sort of all or nothing thing. Not to mention that not everyone who slashes is fucking queer. Have you really not noticed that? Have you really not noticed the straight women who are into slashing hot guys because it's fapping material and not because they can relate to those guys?
Not everyone who appears to be on your side actually is, or actually cares about actual LGBTQ issues.
