It's basically the first day they start selling the ornaments so they have certain limited ones. I collect the Wizard of Oz ones (and have since I was a child) Of all the ones, I'm missing two from the 90s. I have a ridiculous amount of ornaments, they fill up two giant boxes in my closet.

The catalog is already out online so I know which ones I need to pick up. As a tradition, my parents only buy each of the children one gift a year for Christmas-Hallmark ornaments. So that when we move out, we'd be able to decorate our own trees.

The rest of my Christmas presents still say "from Santa"

What a great tradition!

The stores sometimes do something special, like have orange juice and bagels, special giveaways etc.
