(Anonymous) 2014-07-12 02:38 am (UTC)(link)I never liked John Travolta, even back in his 'Saturday Night Fever' period (though the music was good and the dancing was OK), then I later learned he was one too and stopped wondering why I found him off-putting.
I could go on, but every actor I hear about as joining or being part of that cult happens to strike me as weird. Granted, most are not as famous or obvious about it as Tom Cruise who is borderline mental, but he was/is extremely famous and probably thought he could get away with anything.
And he's right: in spite of his demonstrated madness, he still acts in big budget movies and some people -like the OP- still enjoy watching his movies as the OP's earnest naive secret demonstrates.
Personally I'll just stay far, far away from the creepiness if you don't mind: if the OP enjoyed his latest movie and doesn't see anything wrong with indirectly financing Scientology, that's between him/her and his conscience, I'd say. 'Live and let live' is my opinion: which is an overly liberal attitude absolutely NOT endorsed by Scientology, in case the OP is completely uninformed and has lived under a rock for the last two or three decades, by the way.
