You know, I've wondered for awhile now what is it about you that's always vaguely bothered me, from reading your comments on various things, and it's just now occurred me: you get really defensive about the weirdest things.

Most of what we call 'fluff' is usually romance or comedy... but this doesn't necessarily romance and comedy can't be plotty or even serious pieces of writing. Even a romantic comedy can be a lengthy, character-driven story. Those are the genres. When people say 'fluff' in fandom, though, it overwhelmingly refers to 'plotless, sentimental writing to make you feel good'. Your longer writing may have fluffy elements but that's neither what ayrt meant nor, more importantly, what OP meant. You're offended even though you're talking at cross purposes.

That's what I always thought fluff meant, too. I mean... the clue is in the name? If fluff meant long, plotty fics with character arcs, it probably wouldn't be called a word usually associated with dryer lint.

Okay, let's say I "get really defensive about the weirdest things", but at least I don't go out of my way to say hurtful things under the guise of anonymity. If my comments bother you so much, at least have the decency to say in person, so to speak. This way you're just being a cowardly bully (who fails to understand that people can have different views than you, without it making them "defensive" or "weird").

I also think it's strange that you'd remember me, considering that I've been gone for well over a month and only started posting on FS again a couple of days ago. Maybe you need to find something else to focus on in your life, besides memorizing the names of people who bother you on the internet?

I'm unsubscribing from comment notifications, because frankly I can't deal with this shit right now (congrats, that's probably exactly the reaction you wanted!). I'm sure you'll reply, but I won't be reading it.

You really need to get some thicker skin if you think this somehow amounts to bullying, and I mean that in the best way possible. I'm not going to apologize, because pointing out to someone that they have a tendency to get defensive should not be taken as an attack, ffs. Is it weird that I've taken notice of you? This is a community and you and I have both been posting here for years. I've taken note of other named users as well; it's just what happens when you keep reading posts from the same people month after month. And I've always been anonymous, it's just what I prefer.

I'd also like to point out that I tried to very carefully explain how people might discount fluff without disregarding what you do as a writer, but of course you chose to bowl right over that part of my comment. The only reaction I wanted from you was for you to stop biting off that other anon's head for no deserved reason. I don't know what issues you're having, but yes, take a break, you sound like you need it.
