True. I'm thinking of romanticism, the romantic who has these built up ideals and fantasies based on raw and overwhelming emotion, romantic comedy/novel cliches, one-size-fits-all niceties, and, most of all, impracticality in real life.

It's way romantic if I whisk away a random and reluctant passerby for an impromptu adventure on my speedboat, and we become tried true friends after they don't let me drown when the boat flips over. I'm also still a kidnapper.

But 'kidnapper' brings bad thoughts that people don't want in mind, while 'rogue' doeasn't.
Did you read the last post in the thread? Sheds some insight on why labels are important.

Context of the conversation and where it's being said would matter too. Someone could easily suggest they wish they wish a Dread Pirate-O would kidnap them, and saying it among fans or people familiar with the material or escapism would understand what they meant even without a "nicer" word.

Of course, this is pretty different from someone declaring how they'd literally love to have a stalker or a rapist to validate their self-esteem.

Well OP said they want a stalker and rapist from the "rape is love" trope, who are actually NOT stalkers and rapists since the feelings and actions/attraction are always enjoyed and reciprocated at a core level, and they always develop into full mutual love. That's how the trope goes. And that's why the name is misleading.
