Well, there's a hidden assumption, which is that just saying "That was a good fic thank you good I liked" is pointless and at best the same as a kudos.

Which I know some people don't agree with, because we've talked about this before, but it's not exactly crazy and wrong either.

I find even the simplest comment/compliment on my fic very encouraging and exciting. I need that type of thing, to let me know I'm not just "shouting into the void..."

I think it's thrilling to get any compliment at all on my fic.

I know that feeling too.

But then...learn to read kudos and likes as "I read this and enjoyed it." Because that's what they mean.
