Are you sure you even *deserve* those reviews you yearn for?

Because see, from what I observe, fics that people actually like and want to read have NO problem getting reviews (even if their authors might still whine about it). If your fics aren't getting a lot of attention, you maaaaay just have to accept the possibility that your writing -- while not necessarily bad -- might not be all that appealing to fandom people.

Eh, maybe I'm being nitpicky, but I wouldn't necessarily use the word "deserve". I haven't found that reviews are a good barometer of fic quality. It's more likely an indicator of the popularity of the fandom, pairing and/or kink. The fic quality itself is often irrelevant.

However, I have noticed that higher-quality fics often have higher-quality reviews (coherent ones, with full sentences and everything). That's more likely to draw me in to read a story.

Yes, that's the only thing I go by these days. Thoughtful fics attract thoughtful comments.

Too many badly spelled or super squee comments put me off the fic itself, which isn't fair, I know.
