NA I feel like Crystal is meant to not be as campy as the original and I sorta like that about it. The dialogue seemed more real to what a teenager like Usagi would sound like rather than the over-the-top 90s version. I think the direction is to be more serious knowing that their audience would most likely consist of 20-30 somethings. Honestly, if it was the old campy style I probably would not bother to watch it.

It should be kind of campy though, it's Sailor Moon. I don't think it has to be as joke oriented as the original anime, but Naoko's manga definitely had some default faces here and there. And this new version had the same jokes, just not the same expressions.

And even if they don't want to go that far with the expressions, they could still do more then they are doing. There is very little to no emotion coming out of these designs, which means the voice actors are doing all the heavy lifting and it's going to be hard when things get truly emotional during important story moments.
