Re: Americans: advice on how to find college scholarships?
My advice is to talk to your school and and the department. When I was an undergrad, I received merit scholarships from the university but my department also sponsored me every year, where I had to fill out additional forms each year to be eligible.
For graduate school, I once again contacted the professors in my department and they helped me and basically gave me funding. Do your schools have financial aid offices? Talk to them.
I also received scholarships through my dad's union and local Elks but I had to apply for those.
