Reading the full context, I don't see the problem. Weaver obviously thinks being a mother is something important. if I thought that being an artist what super important, I am going to be sad that all you saps won't be able to become artists.

And that would still be super condescending.

But most importantly, when I say that I don't like children, don't have the patience for them, and would most likely abuse any children I had, you saying you're "sad" because I choose not to have children reeeeeeaallly makes you myopic.

As someone who wants to become a parent, I agree with you completely. Nobody should be forced to become parents if they don't see themselves as one or have no desire to become one. There are too many people already out there who shouldn't be parents. We don't need any more kids growing up in emotionally neglectful or abusive homes.

As an artist, and someone who thinks that being an artist is super important to me personally, I'm going to say no.
You should not be an artist.
Being an artist is a giant goddamned pain in the ass.

... and that would be condescending, much like how it's condescending to pity women for not having children and implying that they're somehow not living a full life without them. Believing that something is really, really important to you doesn't mean it's automatically really, really important for everyone.
