Re: Co-writing a scene; any advice?
More to your specific case, my question is whether you and the Christian friend are actually going in explicitly intending to co-write or RP, or if you just asked them for help with the scene/dialogue/viewpoints and they said agreed to help, but didn't specify how.
You can do an RP thing to write the scene, but if your writing styles or interpretations of the characters are very different, this can make for a really awkward fic. I'd suggest, more aptly, that you do the bulk of the writing, with your friend "back-seat driving", contributing ideas and viewpoints at every turn in the fic, but not actually contributing words to the story. It will be much more cohesive as a fic, and it will give YOU a better understanding of both sides of the debate, which will show in your fic (if you do RP-ish, the dialogue might come off sounding more like a debate than a discussion).
