Re: Ding Dong the Witch is Gone

At my old job, a guy I worked with but I hardly ever saw in person and mostly just communicated with by email would misconstrue just about everything I said into some kind of threat or criticism. If I asked a question, he seemed to take it as if I was questioning *him* or trying to undermine him by pointing out a problem he hadn't noticed or something he'd forgotten to explain. If I made a suggestion, he acted as if I was making him look bad. Even worse, he'd get offended on behalf of other people and act like I was threatening and criticizing them, suggesting my questions and comments implied I thought they didn't know what they were doing. A lot of this was over emails cc'ed to a bunch of people who didn't know me and I didn't know whether they sided with him and thought I was some kind of bitch who was trying to undermine them or if they thought he was an unreasonable asshole and just kept their mouths shut. My supervisor eventually got tired of apologizing on my behalf over things that our co-worker shouldn't have been getting mad at anyway and said I was no longer to have any direct contact with the guy. It made things a little awkward, as I had to then relay all questions and comments through other people, but I was glad not be getting screamed at over email. I never had any problem communicating with anyone else, so the guy obviously had issues that weren't about me so I never took it too hard, but it was very frustrating at the time. I wish I'd had some connections to upper management so they'd know what was going on with this guy, but it's not my problem anymore.

That guy sounds mentally unstable.
